Readers,

The time has come. Tonight is, thank the heavens above, my last night in the dorm. I sit here on my rough springy bed surrounded by WAY more stuff than when I got here and wonder why I didnt just live in an apartment...

Heres what is still to come:

Tomorrow: Move into lovely little apartment by the sea for 9 days
Tortourous Weekend Waiting for Tuesday
Tuesday: Fred arrives in barcelona
December 24th: Zoe and Fred embark on a whirlwind eurorail trip.
First stop florence to stay in ex- exchange student giulia's charming home, maybe a day trip to cortuna, then Verona to see Juliets balcony and eat eat eat, and then to the possibly snowy hills of interlaken to take in the scenery and maybe do any extreme sport or two. HA. Then back to Barcelona for a few hours and then...America?

It is strange not being home around Christmas time and having the usual traditions surrounding me, like those delicious sugar cookies with the royal icing that nobody but me actually enjoy eating. or a tree. or cold weather. or ENGLISH. but life is a process...or whatever.

I wont be writing for awhile. My apartment doesnt have wireless (GASP!) and after that i'll be on the road. So I wish you all a happy holiday near and far.

Zoe, thank you so much for sharing your trip with us. You helped me relive my own wonderful year abroad, and I envy you the experience, while being so thankful you could do this too. Have a wonderful trip with Fred, big Christmas and Hanukkah hugs from me, Bill, Julian and Nora. We'll see you in the New Year!

Love and kisses. Xan

In, like, late September, I was working with Fred. Suddenly, a thought occurred to me.

"Fred," I said, "I haven't seen Zoe around in awhile. What's she up to?"

Fred just stared at me. Nikki, the new girl (at the time, a VERY new girl) said, "She's in SPAIN. Even I know that."

And so you are.
